Biography

According to a rental of the Staffordshire estates of Edmund, late earl of Stafford, compiled in March 1404, Roger Coton and his unnamed wife leased a toft in Billington, near Stafford, at a rent of 1s. a year. Nothing more is known of the MP, although he may well have come from a local family which took its name from the neighbouring village of Coton.
