Biography

As a trustee, in May 1401 Gillingham made a conveyance to Joan, wife of William Rypoun, of an inn called the Hert atte Hopp in Rochester. His own wife had inherited a share in land at Wormshill, about ten miles away, but this property she and her sisters sold in 1403.2 He was probably related to John Gillingham, who from 1422 paid an annual rent of £4 6s.8d. for the George atte Hope in Rochester.3
