Biography

Coming from an old-established local family, of which various members had served as foresters of Savernake, Maurice was perhaps a descendant of either Nicholas Hommedieux, MP for Bedwyn in 1362, or John Hommedieux, who contributed 4d. to the town’s share of the poll tax of 1379, but of his own career nothing is recorded save for his single return to Parliament.

Wilts. IPM Edw. III (Brit. Rec. Soc. Index Lib. xlviii), 168, 231, 251, 263, 268, 310, 359, 364-5; E179/196/42a.
