Biography

In July 1397 Miles and a friend named Robert Gillesson were summoned before the court of the mayor of Grimsby to answer the charge that they had persuaded a neighbour’s servant to go with them on a fishing expedition, thus causing the master to lose trade worth 40s. Although this claim for damages was considered quite exorbitant, they were ordered to pay 5s. by way of compensation.
