Biography

Mordant held land at Ore, Wilting, Guestling and Fairlight, on which, as a Portsman, he claimed exemption from taxation in the early years of the 15th century. During part of the Parliament of 1406 he acted for Rye as well as for Hastings, being paid 25s.2d. for so doing.2 He may have died during his year of office as bailiff in 1421-2, for Simon Lymbergh* had replaced him before the end of the term.
