Biography

A resident burgess of Bedwyn, Plomer, whose name was derived from his trade, paid 6d. to the poll tax levied there in 1379. John Elcombe, the earl of Stafford’s bailiff of Kinwardstone hundred (in which Bedwyn lay), was his surety for attendance at both Parliaments of 1382. In 1385 Elcombe’s successor, John Brown, along with John atte Wyly, later MP for Marlborough, did him the same service.
