Biography
Although described as an ‘esquire’ in the borough records, Woodward remains an obscure figure about whom little is known. During his term as bailiff of Northampton—which occurred shortly after his return to Parliament—he witnessed a conveyance of land in the Northamptonshire village of Drayton. His appointment as a local tax collector certainly suggests that he was a fairly prominent member of the local community, but further details of his career now remain wanting.
