The above is no more than a suggested identification for the 1597 Pembroke MP. No connexion has been traced between the Shropshire Burtons and the Pembroke district. The Member for Pembroke Boroughs was appointed to a committee on 29 Nov. 1597 concerning Newport bridge, Monmouthshire.

 

Biography

Edward Burton’s inquisition post mortem was taken at Shrewsbury 3 Nov. 1642. He had died at Atcham the previous 20 Mar., leaving a widow Elizabeth, and a son and heir Francis, then aged over 22.
