Biography

Gerard’s family came from the Isle of Purbeck, and was connected by marriage with the Clavells and Daccombes. In 1586 Gerard signed the borough election indenture, and he was himself returned to the following Parliament. In 1610, Christopher Gerard, gentleman, was one of the burgesses who purchased the manor and borough rights of Wareham. Finally, a Christopher Gerard was noted as one of the owners of the borough in a book of constitutions in 1623.
