Biography

Hall has been preferred to several namesakes as MP for Beverley in 1563. Sir Robert Dudley, who had recently been granted the borough, nominated the lord keeper’s son to the senior seat, and presumably nominated a man of his own choice to the other.

A Robert Hall of Waltham Cross, Essex, made his will 4 July 1580 (proved 8 Nov. 1583), mentioning a land transaction entered into with a gentleman pensioner named Ralph Stafferton, a farm at Rainham, and lands and leases in Waltham, Dagenham, Barking and Nazeing. The testator’s nephew, Robert, was appointed sole executor and residuary legatee.
