Biography

Lister was a salter, frequently employed by Hull on official business. In 1598 he was in London about the renewal of the charter; in 1602 he petitioned Cecil about an Exchequer suit, and during the next few years he several times wrote to Cecil on behalf of his ‘poor neighbours’, who could obtain no redress for wrongs done to them by officials of the King of Denmark. Lister is not known to have been an active Member of his only Parliament. He died 19 Jan. 1617.
