Biography

Like Thomas Edwards, his fellow-Member in 1597, Lowe was a Shropshire lawyer. He acquired property in Calne and gave £20 to the town authorities to be lent to poor craftsmen and artificers. His will was proved 13 Aug. 1624, and he was succeeded by his eldest son John, then aged 32. His second son Richard married a sister of Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon. The youngest son, George, represented Calne in the Long Parliament, and joined the King at Oxford soon after the outbreak of war.
