Biography

Though the estates Coryton inherited in 1711 brought with them an interest at Callington, he did not stand at the by-election consequent upon his father’s death. Coryton was added to Cornwall’s commission of the peace in April 1713, and at the election later that year was returned unopposed for Callington. He made little impact on the records of the House, but the Worsley list and two other comparisons of the 1713 and 1715 Parliaments classed him as a Tory, and he continued to sit as such after the Hanoverian succession. Coryton died on 22 May 1739, being buried on 9 June, and was eventually succeeded in his estates by his first cousin once removed.2
