Biography

Barrow purchased Highgrove, a mile from Gloucester, early in the eighteenth century.1 After contesting Gloucester unsuccessfully in 1747, he was chosen by the local Tories as their candidate at a by-election in 1751.2 Returned unopposed, he continued to represent the city till his death, 10 Jan. 1789.
