Biography
The Dolphin family appears to have been settled in Staffordshire since the sixteenth century. John Dolphin, who practised at Stafford as an attorney, was steward to the Duchess of Hamilton and the Earl of Uxbridge, acquiring a considerable property with his first wife. Since he stood jointly with Thomas Foley, he was presumably a Tory. He died 24 May 1724.
