Biography

The Jordans were country gentlemen, settled at Gatwick since the fourteenth century. On the death of Sir John Parsons in 1717, William Jordan successfully contested the resulting vacancy at Reigate as a Whig on the interest of Sir Joseph Jekyll, voting for the repeal of the Occasional Conformity and Schism Acts but against the peerage bill. He died 7 Apr. 1720.
