Biography

A life long Tory, but not a Jacobite, Vaughan was the adopted heir of his wife’s uncle, Edward Vaughan, M.P., from whom he inherited large estates in Montgomeryshire.2 Returned for his county in 1715 for the sixteenth consecutive time, he voted against the septennial bill in 1716. He died December 1718, his property going to his son-in-law, Watkin Williams Wynn.
