Biography

Boyd’s seat for Wareham was probably purchased with the approval of the Treasury.1 Up to March 1782 he supported North. On 18 Feb. 1783 he voted for Shelburne’s peace preliminaries. Next month Robinson set him down as ‘doubtful’, among the ‘country gentlemen and persons unconnected’. On 27 Nov. he voted against Fox’s East India bill; and was classed in Stockdale’s list of 19 Mar. 1784 as a supporter of Pitt, but did not stand at the general election. No speech by him is recorded.

He died 20 May 1815.
