Biography
Byng unsuccessfully contested Maidstone in 1788; and, although a supporter of Fox, was returned unopposed for Newport in January 1790, in place of John Thomas Townshend, appointed a lord of the Admiralty. There is no record of his speaking in the House before the general election of 1790, when he was returned for Middlesex, which he represented until his death on 10 Jan. 1847.
