Biography

The Craven family had estates in both Warwickshire and Berkshire, and under George II were Tories. Little is known of William Craven’s parliamentary activities: he represented the county without a contest, and is always classed as a Tory. He appears neither in Henry Fox’s list of Members in favour of the peace preliminaries nor in the lists of those who voted against them. Absent from the division on general warrants, 18 Feb. 1764, he was classed by Jenkinson as a friend to Government. There is no record of his having spoken in the House.

He died 17 Mar. 1769.
