b. 25 May 1767, 1st s. of Sir John Hamilton, 1st Bt., by Cassandra Agnes, da. of Edmund Chamberlayne of Maugersbury, Glos.; he was descended in the junior line from James, 1st Earl of Abercorn.  educ. R. N. Acad. Portsmouth 1777.  m. 19 Apr. 1803, Henrietta Martha, da. of George Drummond, banker, of Stanmore, Mdx., 1s. suc. fa. 24 Jan. 1784; K.C.B. 29 Jan. 1833.

Biography

When his cousin J. J. Hamilton succeeded to the earldom of Abercorn, Charles Hamilton replaced him at St. Germans, a stop-gap until the impending dissolution of Parliament. He did not sit again during our period.

He died 14 Sept. 1849.
