Biography

Lambton was returned unopposed for the seat vacated by his father. He delivered his maiden speech on 24 Apr. 1787, seconding Fox’s motion for the repeal of the tax on shops, which tax he claimed to oppose under ‘particular instructions’ from his constituents;1 he spoke a few more times in that Parliament, always on the Opposition side; and voted with them over the Regency bill, 1788-9.

He died at Pisa of consumption, 30 Nov. 1797.
