Biography
During the American war Nugent served under Sir Peter Parker in America and the West Indies. In 1784 he was returned for Buckingham on the interest of Lord Buckingham, his connexion by marriage. Though in general a supporter of Pitt, he voted against Administration, from conscientious motives, in the division of 16 Jan. 1789 on the Regency.3 There is no record of his having spoken in the House.
Buckingham wrote to W. W. Grenville on 11 Nov. 1788 that he would not return Nugent at the next general election because of his ill health.4
Nugent died 7 Jan. 1844.
