Biography
According to Matthew Woodford, Hans Stanley’s agent at Southampton, Swymmer was mainly supported by out-burgesses and had therefore to combine with someone standing on a local interest.1 In 1754 he was returned unopposed and was classed by Lord Dupplin as a Tory. He died 26 Feb. 1760, in Jamaica.
