Biography

John Symmons belonged to a group of West Wales Tories, the Society of Sea Serjeants, headed by Sir John Philipps. He owed his tenure of the seat for Cardigan Boroughs to a compromise negotiated by Philipps with the local Whigs. In the House of Commons Symmons voted with Opposition, and is not known to have spoken.

He died in September 1764.
