Biography

Wyndham contested Arundel in 1780 on the Duke of Norfolk’s interest; and in 1782 was returned for Chichester after a contest, as the Duke of Richmond’s candidate. As such his first recorded vote, 15 Mar. 1782, was against North’s Administration. After Fox’s resignation in July 1782 Wyndham abandoned Richmond, who supported Shelburne and Pitt, and followed Fox: voted against Shelburne’s peace preliminaries, for Fox’s East India bill, and was classed by both Robinson and Stockdale as an opponent of Pitt. Naturally in 1784 Richmond did not return him again for Chichester, nor is he known to have stood elsewhere. During his first term in Parliament there is no record of his having spoken in the House.

He died 5 Aug. 1833.
