Biography

Fane became a junior partner in the London bank of Praed, Mackworth and Newcombe in 1817. A year later his elder brother Henry made way for him to enter Parliament for the family borough of Lyme. He silently supported administration in his first Parliament, voting with them against Tierney’s censure motion, 18 May, and for the foreign enlistment bill, 10 June 1819. He remained in town to vote for ministerial measures against sedition, 23 Dec. 1819. Fane died 18 Jan. 1863.
