Biography
Praed was first elected for the family borough in his father’s lifetime in 1681. Probably an opponent of exclusion, he took no known part in the Oxford Parliament. In 1688 the Earl of Bath recommended him as court candidate, and he was duly returned at the general election. Anthony Rowe listed him among those who voted to agree with the Lords that the throne was not vacant, but he again served on no committees and made no speeches in the Convention. Under William he voted with the Tories, but he signed the Association in 1696. He died in 1706, administration of his effects being first granted in December. His brother and successor, John, was elected for St. Ives in 1708.3
